Near field computation of the extinction of electromagnetic waves in multiparticle systems

Abstract


In this contribution extinction of electromagnetic waves inside a medium consisting of cylindrical absorbing particles is considered. Near fields are calculated using a numerical solution of Maxwell's equations and compared to results given by Lambert-Beer's law.
