Planar Small Oscillations of a Container Acted by an Elastic Force Partially Filled by a Heavy Viscous Liquid
Abstract
From the equations of the system container-liquid, one deduces the variational equation of the problem, and then an operatorial equation in a suitable Hilbert space. The
study of the normal oscillations is reduced to the study of an operator bundle, the kind
of which is well known. One obtains an infinity of aperiodic damped motions and, for a
sufficently small viscosity, a finite number of oscillatory damped motions.
