On the Uniform Accuracy of IMEX Runge-Kutta Schemes and Applications to Hyperbolic Systems with Relaxation
Abstract
In this paper we consider new Implicit-Explicit (IMEX) Runge-Kutta schemes for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with stiff relaxation terms. The schemes were obtained by imposing additional order conditions to guarantee better accuracy over a wide range of the stiffness parameter ε. Numerical comparisons of the new schemes with some other schemes confirm an improvement of the accuracy for small values of ε.
