In the oocytes of the Author remarked that the yolk formation occurs in the following stages: at first, in the perinuclear region, some small globules develop, which then extend everywhere in the cytoplasm. Afterwards, from the periphery to the nucleus, cavities appear and conspicuous yolk masses form. In a third stage, at the periphery of the oocyte the definite globules begin to appear. With the metallic impregnation methods it is possible to notice a silver or osmium precipitation only at the level of the first yolk globules. Therefore, they show the characteristic “Golgi zones”. Moreover the cytochemical reactions showed that, while the yolk globules incur a progressive enrichement of proteic substances of different chemical compositions, a decrease of these substances takes place in the nucleolus, more md more evident during the oocyte’s growth.
