Abstract
A outcrop of massive limestone have been studied in Punta Rugno (Milazzo). This limestone includes isoriented lens of Ca-silicatic fels, amphibolitic fels and amphibolitc paragneisses. This massive limestone is interbedded with regional paragneisses, to which Ca-rich amphibolic and biotitic paragneisses are connected. The petrographic and chemical study shows for the limestone an origin from arenacoeus limestone and for the amphibolitic and Ca-rich biotitic gneisses from graywackes mixed-up calcareous matters. The Ca-silicatic and amphibolitic fels can be reguarded as product of the mixture between limestone and basitic materials. The basitic rocks, outcropping in Milazzo, have a green sands type sedimentary origin from Ti-rich basic volcanites. The basic rocks are submitted to almirolitic and diagenetic actions during premetamorphic stage. The petrographic study shows cristallization’s stage from a medium-high to a low metamorphic degree.
