Abstract
The Author examines the chemical nature of the giandular epithelium of the ink-sac of Lophotes cepedianus Giorna. From the analysis of the histochemical data, it has been possible to show a remarkably acid secretion, made of mucopolysaccharides. If on the one hand the presence of the mucopolysaccharides with carboxylic groups has been granted, on the other hand it has not been possible to prove the presence of the sulphated mucopolysaccharides. Together with the mucopolysaccharides is also present a fraction of melanins.
