Abstract

The solubility phase diagram of 1,3,7 trimethylxanthine in aqueous cupric nitrate has been investigated. At low concentration of electrolyte solution the liquid is saturated with monohydrated caffeine. Only for concentration in $Cu(N0_3)_2$. $3H_30$ greater than 50% b. w. the solution separates green crystals of [Cu cf$(OH_2)_3N0_3]N0_3$. By plotting caffeine solubility versus cupric nitrate trihydrated concentration several thermodynamical quantities concerning the complex [Cu cf$(0H_2)x]^2^+$ have been evaluated.
