    Abstract

    The crystal of tetraqua(isonicotinato-N)(isonicotinato-O)magnesium consists of hydrogen bonded discrete complex molecules, in which two organic ligands and four water molecules coordinate octahedrally to magnesium. In each complex the two isonicotinate ligands show a different behaviour: one coordinates through a carboxylic oxygen, the other through the pyridine nitrogen. The coordination polyhedra are joined together by a network of hydrogen bonds.
