Abstract
The reaction between $UO_2^2^+$ ions and cocarboxylase (TPP) is studied in solution and the reaction products are characterized in the solid state by means of physico-chemical meausurements. The spectrophotometric investigations indicate that 1: 1 or 3:2 $U0_2^2^+$+/TPP complexes are formed in solution, in agreement with the stoichiometry of the complexes in the solid state.
The results are consistent with the chelation of $U0_2^2^+$ by the pyrophosphate group of cocarboxylase.
