Abstract
The electronic transition of ruthenocene in halocarbon solvents (RCl) which appears in the 285-300 nm spectral range is attributed to dissociative charge-transfer,
$C_10H_10Ru + RCl ^ hv \longrightarrow C_10H_10Ru + Cl-+ R$
Electron transfer absorption is characteristic of ruthenocene in those halocarbon solvents which have a low half-wave potential. Association constants and molar extinction coefficients for ruthenocene-RC1 $(CCl_4, ClCH_2-CH_2Cl)$ CTTS complexes have been measured.
