Abstract
A kinetic study of the reaction between [Cu (SA) Bipy] $PF_6$ (SA = salicyaldheydato ion; bipy = 2,2’-bipiridile) is reported. The reaction takes place in one detectable kinetic stage; the reverse dependence of the rate on the $CH_3O$ concentration is interpreted considering a competition between $CH_3O$ and the amines for the electrophilic attack-site on the carbonyl carbon atom of the coordinate salicylaldheydato ion. The effect of the positive charge on the cupper (II) substrates is also discussed.
