Abstract
Trigemino-facial reflexes, electromyographically recorded in sleeping human subjects, show during “synchronized sleep” a deep depression, of both monosynaptic and polysinaptic component, while during “desynchronized sleep” only a little depression of the trigemino-facial ref1ectivity is observed.
Theese findings suport the hypothesis of those A.A. who believe desynchronized sleep to be lighter than the synchronized one and introduce a new tool to differentiate “paradoxal” from “ortodoxal” sleep.
