Abstract
A review of the literature concerning lymphomatoid contact dermatitis is reported.
LCD isa variant of contact dermatitis characterized by a clinical and histological features mimiking mycosis fungoides: pruritic lymphomatoid plaques and dense lymphohistiocytis infiltrate in the dermis.
In 1976, Orbaneja et al.. described four patients who had infiltratcd plaquelike lesions of dermatitis with some histologic similarity to mycosis fungoides or lymphoma. The plaques were not in exposed areas of the skin and were related to contact sensivity from the striker surface of a matchhox. Because of the clinical history and findings. Orbaneja called this condition “lymphomatoid contact dermatitis”.
Subsequently (1978). Ecker and Winkelmann. reviewed five patients with recurrent and progressive erythematous patchy dermatitis had temporary flares of generalized erythema and associaied posilive patch lests. The histophatologic findings were of a distinct pattern of lymphocitic dermal reticulosis and chronic epithelial response.They believed that this represents a potentiai pre-Sezary state.
Recently (1988) Wall exort to use the term "liymphomatoid contact dermatitis" only when the lymphomatoid reaction is related to contact with allergene, when it is associated with positive patch tests and there is a resolution by removing it.
