Abstract
Necrotizing facisciitis, an infection which involves soft tissue up to the fascia, with wide areas of necrosis, is mainly caused by group A beta emolytic Streptococcus. The disease confirms the necessity of an early diagnosis based mostly on a clinic criterion, but above all on histological biopsy.
The prevailing treatment is surgical and allows together to the farmacological treatment to subdue the rapid progression of the infection which maintain an high mortality rate.
