Abstract
The photodetachment of negative ion by an
photon in the presence of a low frequency (
) electric field and of a static magnetic field is investigated. The
field polarization is staken along the magnetic field direction, with the
photon polarization perpendicular to B. The intensities of the two external fields are taken sufficiently weak to neglect the Stark and diamagaetic shifts of the initial state. The reported results show that: a) it is possible to measure with sufficent accuracy the shift in the continuum; b) the presence of a magnetic field enhances the inteferences effects, and photodetachment experiments carried out with the additional presence of a magnetic field could provide more information on the precise role low frequency field plays in the process.
