Abstract
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder, often associated to cognitive deficits. The aim of this study is to explore neuropsychological performance and to identify potential risk factors for impairment. Our sample was composed by 24 TLE patients (36.79±12.61 years; 15 females and 9 males). All subjects completed a neuropsychological battery and a measurement of depression and anxiety. Results showed a poor performance across all domain of cognitive function and identified age of epilepsy onset as potential predictor of cognitive outcomes. These findings support the importance to focus more on cognitive impairment in this population and to better clarify the impact of epilepsy features.
