Abstract

The research concerns the relationship between the alterations of the kyphotic and lordotic curves of the vertebral column and the metabolic alterations that have been noted to be associated with them. The objective was to propose a simple, precise and reliable diagnostic procedure that could allow us to frame the patient's pathological picture starting from the clinical examination. The observation of a possible correlation between the alterations of the vertebral column, in its kyphotic and lordotic traits, and the modification of the metabolism of sugars, is supported by the following tests: glycemic curve and insulinemic curve; DXA exam, for fat mass and lean mass, B.M.I. (Body Mass Index) and the percentage distribution of body fat; NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), examination of instrumental diagnosis. The correlation between particular objective examination, instrumental and laboratory investigations allows to support the possible interaction between mechanical alterations of the spine and metabolic syndromes.
