    Abstract

    We consider systems of equations in one space dimension in conservative form which can be reduce, with the aid of suitable potentials, to second order or third order monge-ampere equations. Under special cirumstances these equations may be linearized by means of backlund type trasformations. Fluid-dynamic,magnetogasdynamic and continuum models with rate-type costitutive laws belong to these classes of linearizable systems when suitable conditions are satisfated
