A mineralization outcropping in C.da Croce locality (Fiumedinisi area), and mainly consisting of pyrite, has been investigated. The studied samples belong to the “Mandanici Unit”, which is a low grade metamorphic unit of the northern Peloritan complex. Results of microscopical investigations revealed a mineral association mainly consisting of quartz, pyrite, magnetite, ilmenite and chalcopyrite. Both pyrite and quartz show two generations. Quartz has been observed in some fractures. Chemical investigations revelead 46.41% Fe medium content for pyrite. No significant differences exist between the two pyrite generations. As regards trace elements, the Co/Ni ratio in pyrite of almost 2 suggests a deposition due to a hydrothermal activity.
