Abstract

Dielectric measurements canied out in this laboratory in the kHz range on nearly dry biological samples are briefly reviewed. Conductivity data show that, above a critical hydration level, percolative protonic currents set in and follow the appropriate scaling law. Percolation thresholds coincide with the emergence of biological function.
