Abstract
A material stratification is postulated in a solid medium in such a way that the wave propagation speed switches randomly, but smoothly, between two different laws. Explicit expressions are derived for the mean propagation speed at time t and the mean path lenght traversed by the wavefront in the elapsed time t.
