Focus and Scope
ASCM is a scientific journal that publishes peer-reviewed research articles on behavioral addictions, behavioral risk on the net, online communication and on social platforms, bringing together research, theories and methods of investigation, involving the psychological and sociological fields. Its goal is to implement international scientific and clinical communication, following a model of interdisciplinary dialogue and comparison, to strengthen the links between clinical psychology and the new online frontiers of the sociology of communication that are connected to technological social changes, lifestyle and techno-mediated relational dynamics both in developmental and adult age and to stimulate the quality of the international debate in the light of neuroscientific research.
The journal accepts original contributions, both theoretical and empirical research. The field of technological addictions and communicative behaviors on social networks and platforms can be implemented by neuroscientific studies on mental functioning, for this reason, the journal embraces human experimental, epidemiological, clinical and social research, in the light of the new techno-mediated changes, aimed at understanding of cognitive processes and prevention in education, new cognitive learning styles and promotion of mental well-being. In addition, the Journal accepts editorials and book reviews.

Peer Review Process
We employ a double-blind review method, ensuring that each manuscript is assessed by at least two independent reviewers, selected based on their specific expertise. These experts are allotted four weeks to complete their evaluations.
To ensure objective assessment and support authors in enhancing their manuscripts, we have developed a checklist that guides reviewers (see Reviewer Checklist) through their evaluations. Reviewers are required to consider various critical aspects of the manuscript, such as the type of article, any potential conflicts of interest, adherence to ethical standards, originality of the contribution, relevance and clarity of the title, and the ability of the abstract to effectively reflect the article's content.
Additionally, the checklist includes evaluating the clarity of the introduction, the appropriateness of the methodology, the correctness of statistical analyses, the quality of figures and tables, the soundness of conclusions relative to the results, the coverage and impartiality of bibliographic citations, and the quality of the written English. Reviewers are encouraged to highlight strengths and areas for improvement in each section of the work, providing specific advice to elevate the overall quality of the manuscript.
At the end of the review process, reviewers may choose to send general observations directly to the editor. Their final judgment can range from immediate acceptance, requests for minor or major revisions, rejection with the possibility of improvement, or outright rejection due to severe and irreparable flaws. This system ensures that each work published meets the high standards of our journal.
Open Access Policy
ASMC ensures immediate open access to its materials, adhering to the principle that providing free access to research for the public facilitates broader international knowledge exchange. This approach not only enhances visibility and collaboration across diverse research communities but also accelerates the pace of scientific discovery and innovation globally.
Archiving
ASMC utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
This document outlines our commitment to uphold high standards of ethical practices in publishing. We aim to ensure the integrity of our publications, foster trust among our readers, researchers, and contributors, and support the broader scientific dialogue.
1. Data Integrity and Reproducibility: At ASMC, we hold data integrity and the ability to reproduce scientific results in the highest regard. Authors are required to provide access to the raw data associated with their manuscript for review purposes, if applicable. Data must be stored in appropriate public repositories so that other researchers can replicate the work and verify results. Our commitment to data transparency not only supports scientific validation but also enhances the credibility and reliability of the research we publish.
2. Ethical Use of Digital Technologies: ASMC promotes the responsible use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics, in the research process. Authors should ensure that the deployment of these technologies adheres to ethical
research standards, avoiding bias and maintaining transparency in their methodologies. We expect all computational methods used to be clearly described and justified within the manuscript to allow for critical assessment and reproducibility.
3. Plagiarism and Similarity Checks: ASMC is committed to publishing original research. We use Turnitin, a leading plagiarism detection software, to check for textual similarities in submitted manuscripts. Turnitin scans billions of pages across the internet, including archived content, previously submitted papers, and a vast range of published material, to ensure the originality of each submitted manuscript. If a high level of similarity is found, the manuscript may be rejected or returned to the authors for modification. Final manuscripts will also be archived in the Turnitin database to safeguard future publication integrity.
4. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: ASMC requires all authors to disclose any potential sources of conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. This includes, but is not limited to, financial interests such as patents, consultancies, and employment, as well as personal relationships or academic competition. Transparency about conflicts of interest is crucial to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.
5. Human and Animal Rights: For manuscripts involving human participants, or data derived from human subjects, authors must provide a statement confirming that their studies were conducted ethically and in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration. For studies involving animals, authors must ensure that the experimental procedures followed approved guidelines concerning the welfare of the animals and mention the approving body in the manuscript.
6. Authorship and Contributions: Authorship should accurately reflect individuals' contributions to the work and its reporting. All listed authors must have made a significant scientific contribution to the research and have approved the final version of the manuscript to be published. ASMC encourages the submitting author to include the ORCiD identifier numbers of all authors when submitting a manuscript, as this enhances transparency and allows for proper attribution of work. Contributions from individuals who do not qualify as authors should be acknowledged appropriately.
7. Handling of Errors and Retractions: ASMC takes responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. Should significant errors or inaccuracies be identified in published work, we are committed to publishing corrections or retractions as necessary. Authors are obligated to notify the journal promptly if they discover errors that might affect the interpretation of data or information presented.
8. Review Process: All manuscripts submitted to ASMC undergo a rigorous peer review process where they are assessed by independent experts for their scientific merit and integrity. Our double-blind review process ensures that reviews are fair, unbiased, and focused solely on the quality of the work submitted.
9. Data Sharing and Accessibility: ASMC encourages authors to share their data and any supporting materials that can assist other researchers in replicating the work or extending the research findings. Data should be made accessible in a manner consistent with ethical considerations and privacy laws.
By adhering to these guidelines, ASMC reaffirms its commitment to the highest standards of research ethics and publication integrity. We aim to contribute positively to the scientific community and ensure that our publications serve as trustworthy sources of scientific knowledge.
