Vivere e morire nell’Hyperrepublic. Verso una sociologia speculativa
Abstract
The paper advances some theoretical hypotheses for the development of a speculative sociology, which can be defined as the integration of sociological tools into intentional narrative contexts, designed to explore hypothetical scenarios. This approach enables predictive perspectives on emerging phenomena, the most striking examples including artificial intelligences, immersive technologies, and nanorobotics, wherein new possibilities demand unprecedented methodological approaches.
The theorization suggests the creation of participatory storytelling workshops with variable groups of participants, differently socialized with gamification models and predictive world-building. In alignment with its counterfactual approach, the paper adopts a hybrid theoretical-narrative structure through which it theorizes the use of imagination as a practice and of possibility as a space for negotiating future social settings.
