Call for papers (Gli Argonauti, anno III, n. 4, gen. 2023) 

A cento anni dalla Riforma Gentile. Indirizzi di ricerca e nuove prospettive di analisi.

A Handred Years after the Gentile Reform. Research Directions and new Analysis Perspectives

Il 6 maggio 1923 entra in vigore la riforma Gentile, dal nome del filosofo neo-idealista Giovanni Gentile che fu ministro della Pubblica istruzione nel primo governo di Mussolini dall’ottobre 1922 al luglio 1924. La riforma si componeva di decreti e provvedimenti che andarono a modificare l’intero assetto dell’istruzione italiana, a partire dalla scuola elementare fino ad arrivare all’università. A cento anni dall’emanazione della riforma, la rivista "Gli Argonauti" invita ricercatori/trici italiani/e e stranieri/e di diverse aree disciplinari ad inviare contributi per la pubblicazione a partire da alcuni nodi chiave:

•   i presupposti storici, teorici e filosofici della riforma;


•   i riflessi sulla scuola, sulle istituzioni, sulla società e sull’economia;


•   gli indirizzi pedagogici e i modelli italiani e stranieri alla base della riforma;


•   l’impianto della riforma e le sue ricadute sui diversi gradi di studio;


•   la riforma e la politica dei ritocchi e dei correttivi ad opera dei ministri successivi;


•   l’eco della riforma in Italia e/o all’estero;


•   maestri e professori dopo la riforma;


•   i meccanismi del reclutamento scolastico e universitario;


•   il tema della presenza/esclusione femminile dal mondo della scuola e dell’università;


•   il sistema burocratico-amministrativo introdotto dalla riforma;


•   l’insegnamento tra libri di testo e narrazioni;


•   le nuove materie di insegnamento;


•   la riforma e l’insegnamento religioso;


•   la riforma e lo sport;


•   la vita scolastica e universitaria (1922-1945);


•   la continuit  della riforma nel secondo dopoguerra;


•   la riforma comunicata: immagini, suoni e parole.

On May 6th, 1923, the Gentile reform, named after the neo-idealist philosopher Giovanni Gentile, who was Minister of Education in Mussolini's first government from October 1922 to July 1924, came into force. The reform consisted of decrees and measures that changed the entire structure of Italian education, from primary school to university. One hundred years after the enactment of the reform, the journal "Gli Argonauti" invites Italian and foreign researchers from different disciplinary areas to send contributions for publication based on a few key points:

• the historical, theoretical, and philosophical assumptions of the reform;


• the repercussions on schools, institutions, society and economy;


• the pedagogical approaches and the Italian and foreign models on which the reform was based;


• the structure of the reform and its consequences on the various school grades;


• the reform and the policy of adjustments and corrections by successive ministers;


• the echo of the reform in Italy and/or abroad;


• teachers and professors after the reform;


• the mechanisms of school and university recruitment;


• the issue of female presence/exclusion from the world of school and university;


• the bureaucratic-administrative system introduced by the reform;


• teaching between textbooks and narratives;


• the new teaching subjects;


• the reform and religious education;


• the reform and sport;


• school and university life (1922-1945);


• the continuity of the reform after the Second World War;


• the reform communicated: images, sounds, and words.
