Hybridization of Galerkin and Petrov–Galerkin Mixed Finite Element Methods for 2nd Order Elliptic Problems
Abstract
Starting from the characterization of the static condensation procedure for mixed hybridized methods, we use Helmholtz decompositions to obtain simpler local mapping problems that can be inverted in a more accurate way. Moreover, we extend the variational characterization of static condensation to more general saddle–point formulations.
