An Optimal Control Approach for 1D-2D Shallow Water Equations Coupling
Abstract
We consider the problem of the coupling between 1D and 2D shallow
water systems. This problem is motivated by the fact that in some
physical situations, like estuarines or rivers, 1D hydrostatic
models are satisfactory in a large part of the computational
domain and only in some small regions, like bifurcations, a 2D
model is needed. For the coupling we propose a domain
decomposition method with overlapped subdomains based on the
introduction of suitable boundary control functions.
