Abstract

In the globalization era, my aim – after Lucio Gambi’s teaching – has been to go beyond a geography without history making it a tool for the understanding of the culture of a territory; a geography as a subversive critique of the population historical trends.I read just in this way Francesco Mercadante’s reflection on the history of Messina as a territory and as a culture.
