MIGRAZIONI TRANSNAZIONALI, MULTICULTURALISMO, DEMOCRAZIA: PROSPETTIVE NORMATIVE E PROBLEMI EMPIRICI
Abstract
In the last decade the “migration issue” has incontestably moved on the central stage both in theoretical and empirical research in social and political theory. In this context, the conceptual category of “transnationalism” has emerged as the most relevant feature of contemporary migration, in its economic, political, cultural and social dimensions. Above all, the research on migration and integration processes in host society have questioned both strength and coherence of the normative paradigm of human rights and democracy. Be that as it may, this article tries to assess strengths and weaknesses of public discourse in the public sphere as far as multicultural integration and citizenship rights are concerned.
