SECONDA GENERAZIONE: UNA CATEGORIA UTILE PER LE FUTURE LINEE DI RICERCA IN PEDAGOGIA INTERCULTURALE?
Abstract
The article deals with the theme of the second generation of immigrants. In
particular it tries to throw light on the difficult definition of the second
generation, pointing out the peculiarities of a generation in conflict against
old and new problems, the latter coming from the wish to overcome the
subordinate integration that their parents lived and to achieve a social rôle
consistent with the new expectations of young people anxious for new
working opportunities with a higher social and economic prestige.
These new needs show the necessity of a change in the host societies: they
will have to be interested in an intercultural education to be addressed
especially to natives not yet ready to assume a pluralistic and “negotiated”
idea of national membership.
