Abstract
In this work analyze shear deformation processes occurring during earthquakes, in the case that anelastic properties of the medium have to be considered. The conseguences of dissipative phenomena is analyzed in the framework of non-equilibrium thermodynamics by using a quite general stress-strain relation, obtained in prevoius works. We find a representation, in terms of equivalent body-forces, of the shear focal mechanism with a double-couple whose moment depends on time by a decaying exponential law and on frequency. We analyze the main features of algorithms suitable for stress tensor computations in the specific case of our interest and, also on the ground of results coming from the application of these algorithms, we evidence the usefulness of the approach and make a first attempt to define the guidelines for the development of such research topic.
